Training Ride With Martin Johnson CBE (March 30, 2019)

Hosted by our friends at Purity Brewing, our CBRE Business 100 riders enjoyed a morning in the saddle with England Rugby legend Martin Johnson CBE – followed by some well-earned food and drink. The sun was shining, and the beer was flowing!

“We signed up to be Title Partner of the Vélo Birmingham and Midlands CBRE Business 100 in 2019. Being part of such a well organised and successful event within the Midlands region was such an honour. Our clients and colleagues enjoyed the training ride with Martin Johnson at the end of March, which spurred our team on to start their training schedules. On the day of the ride, the route was excellently planned, with plenty of drinks stations along the way and easy to follow. The varied ride through spectacular countryside and parts of the Midlands towns and cities gave us the opportunity to take in all of the picturesque scenery. It was greatly appreciated by all riders that we were supported by the bystanders and crowds along the route, which really was helped by the tremendous weather we had on that day.”

Martin Guest,
Managing Director of CBRE Birmingham

“As a creative communications group we have very high standards regarding event organisation, and our entry in the CBRE Business 100 was met with professionalism, impeccable attention to detail and a fantastic experience.  The opportunity to ride with fellow cyclists who are as passionate about bikes and Lycra as they are about their businesses drew resounding parallels with our team who forged great relationships. From the pre-event communication, training ride, mix and mingle events and ultimately the hospitality on the day, even our seasoned riders’ had their expectations blown away.  It was definitely an amazing experience, facilitated by an incredible team, and we’ll definitely be looking to repeat it next year.”

“The CBRE Business 100 offered a great opportunity for a number of colleagues from across St. James’s Place to not only take part in a fantastic event but also raise a significant amount for charity. The whole event was superbly organised and orchestrated and everyone in our team particularly commented on the exhilaration of riding on closed roads. They will be signing up for the next one”

“Our customers loved the VIP experience and found the support on route from the local Birmingham people inspirational. I will be highly recommending the Business 100 to others.”

“We had a real mix of rider abilities but we all made it our goal to achieve 100 miles on the bike! Unforgettable experiences for both riders and DENSO Manufacturing UK Ltd. We have already enrolled onto next year’s challenge and we really can’t wait for it!”

Tsuguyoshi (Tom) Hidaka

“The Homeserve team were all made to be so welcome by Vélo Birmingham and Purity Brewery during the practice ride on Saturday. The organisation was first class, the domestique support riders were excellent, Martin Johnson was inspirational and the welcome pint and hog roast rounded off the ride perfectly.”
